Simmons & Sons - Estate Agents

Simmons & Sons are a firm of estate agents and land surveyors. They employ over 60 people across 5 offices (Henley, Basingstoke, Marlow, Sherfield & Peper Harow).

Case Study

Every office had an on premise server for file storage and exchange mail services. Our brief was to move them into the 21st centuary.

We came up with a plan that was approved and it invovled the following activities:

• Replace all old PCs with new PCs with SSD disks
• Remove the on premise servers and migrate email and data into the cloud
• Recable all offices with new CAT5 network
• Install and configure:
  • Office 365 with Advanced Threat Protection
  • SharePoint and OneDrive for data
  • Synology NAS for local office storage of property photos
  • Unifi gateways, switches and wireless access points
  • Webroot SecureAnywhere

As a result of this work issues have dropped from several issues per day at each office to 2 or 3 per month at each office, makign them more productive and setup for the future, which will involve a voice over IP telephone system connecting all the offices.

My Sporting Times Ltd.

My sporting Times Ltd., with its headquarters in Berkshire, is a sports centric company comprising of the Tri20 Swim Centre , a portfolio of local sporting events and the iTaB medal insert business.  The Tri20 Swim Centre is the premier open water swimming venue on the South of England attracting thousands of swimmers every year. MySportingTimes' event portfolio offers a range of single and multi-disciplined races throughout the Thames Valley region and attracts of 2000 individual athletes every year. The iTaB is a patented medal personalisation product that is sold by many of the largest mass participation events around the world.

Case Study

We have been assisiting My Sporting Times with their IT support requirements over the last few years. In our most recent involvement we assisted MST with the purchase, and resources, for the installation of 3 new PCs for their members of staff.

Activities included:

• Purchase recommendation and quote preparation;
• Compatibility checks for their existing programs;
• Machines setup - including operating system and software installations;
• Provisioning on to the network and internet.

We also migrated 2 machines on to the latest operating system due to security issues, checking first for compatibility issues with their current software.

We also made some recommendations on their Internet connectivity that could save them money and ultimately improve the performance of their browsing capabilities. 

Finally, we also made some recommendations around their data security and network and have implemented some changes and provided them with steps to be taken around their data security and backups going forward (utilising cloud data storage and backups), which will go some way to preventing data loss in the event of a disaster, be it site or individual.

Peden Bloodstock Ltd

Peden Bloodstock, with its headquarters in Hartley Wintney (Hampshire), are leaders in international horse transportation and logistics.

Case Study

We were brought in to make some changes to their existing IT infrastructure and then provide them with ongoing IT support. With conerns around security and backups we made the recommendation, and successfully carried out, the migration of data from their on-premise server to OneDrive in the cloud. Already utilising Office 365 this was the best route as it gave them the security that they reuqired and since they frequently travel it means that they can now access their data anywhere in the world. Their on-premise server still resides but for the sole purpose of hosting their Sage 50 accounts. This is now also backed up on a nightly basis to the cloud. 

Simply Life & Mortgages Ltd

Simply Life & Mortgages, with its headquarters in Fleet (Hampshire), are an independent mortage and life insurance brokers. They can obtain deals that you might not neccessarily be able to find.

Case Study

We were brought onboard at company's inception. We have set them up a simple environment in their serviced offices, comprising of new PCs, NAS for local storage, Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint, Webroot and CRM. We also setup their simple, yet effective, website.

We have made sure that their environment is secure and backed up. They save their shared and confidential data to the NAS which is backed up (encrypted) hourly to the cloud and any local information stored on the PC's is synced to the cloud using OneDrive.

Park Home Life Ltd

Park Home Life Ltd, with it's headquarters in Blunsdon Abbey Park, Swindon (Wiltshire), operate a number of residential park home estates, for the retiring and over 50's community.

Case Study

We were brought onboard to make some wholesale changes to their IT infrastructure, which was an on premise server, that remote sites would connect into. This was proving to be haphazard and time consuming. We made the recommendation to remove their server and migrate their data and email environment to the cloud, using Office 365, OneDrive and SharePoint. We migrated the mailboxes using a product called CodeTwo which works seamlessly to keep both mail enviroments alive and minimisises disruption when it comes to switching over. It also means that no emails are lost during the migration.

They also run Sage 50 accounts which we migrated to a PC in the office and is backed up to the cloud on a nightly basis. Eventually we will look to move this to the cloud as well, once the adidtional functionalities within Sage's cloud offering are made available.
