My sporting Times Ltd. is a sports centric company comprising of online merchandising, the Tri20 Swim Centre , a portfolio of local sporting events and the iTaB medal insert business. My Sporting Times is the hub of the business and still provides online merchandising for the multisport market although the other strands of the business are now standalone brands in their own right. The Tri20 Swim Centre is the premier open water swimming venue on the South of England attracting thousands of swimmers every year, the website is the go-to online resource for those seeking further information about the centre and general information about the sport. MySportingTimes' event portfolio offers a range of single and multi-disciplined races throughout the Thames Valley region and attracts of 2000 individula athletes every year; provides event information and online registration facilities. The iTaB is a patented medal personalisation product that is sold by many of the largest mass participation events around the world; global sales, order processing, manufacture and shipping are driven through the My Sporting Times HQ based in Berkshire.


Case Study


We have been assisiting My Sporting Times with their IT support requirements over the last few years. In our most recent involvement we assisted MST with the purchase, and resources, for the installation of 3 new PCs for their members of staff.


Activities included:

  • Purchase recommendation and quote preparation;
  • Compatibility checks for their existing programs;
  • Machines setup - including operating system and software installations;
  • Provisioning on to the network and internet.


We recommended to MST that they utilise 2 of their older machines - on of the machines will be used as an office spare (part of their disaster recovery amd business continuity plan) and the other, a laptop, will be used down at their Tri20 Swim Centre and at future events. One of the older machines was utilising Windows XP, and as result recommended upgrading to Windows 7 due to Microsoft stopping support back in April 2014.


Activities included:

  • Data backup - to their network attached storage (NAS);
  • Check machines for spyware/malware;
  • Remove unwanted applications;
  • Upgrade operating system to Windows 7;
  • Update AntiVirus software.


As well as hardware provision and installation we have provided them with some support on their Internet connectivity and set them up with a workaround utilising their old router until such time that their existing router is fixed. We have also provided them with some consultancy around their exisiting INternet connection and made some recommendations on how to improve their connection speed and also save money.


Finally, we also made some recommendations around their data security and network and have implemented some changes and provided them with steps to be taken around their data security and backups going forward (utilising cloud data storage and backups), which will go some way to preventing data loss in the event of a disaster, be it site or individual.
